A young Canadian named Bob Lapointe started the fast food revolution in Australia in 1968 when he opened the first KFC (formerly Kentucky Fried Chicken) restaurant at Guildford in Sydney’s western suburbs. The first KFC restaurant was built on this site and opened on 27th April 1968, with a staff of 25. KFC now has more than 600 stores in Australia and New Zealand, which are company owned or franchised. There are over 12,000 employees working on a permanent and casual basis at KFC in Australia and 3,200 in New Zealand.
Solution
Newpath WEB were partnered with to build a competition based website and solution for KFC “Zinger Hot Moments”. V8 Supercars and KFC Zinger, the official burger of the V8 Supercars, were giving visitors of the site the chance to win a HSV Maloo R8 and one FPV Super Pursuit, along with many other great prizes.
The site contained a video section, and competition page. Newpath WEB provided KFC and its partners with a management section for the video aspect, in order to be able to manage videos on the site, that were associated with the V8 supercar series, and each round. Newpath WEB also provided a feature whereby the entries from the competition were not only stored in a database, but also automatically gathered on a weekly basis, exported to a CSV, and securely sent to KFC and its partners.
The site proved to be a great success, and as such was very high use, and traffic.
The site was developed using a combination of PHP, and ASP.net, and is also hosted by Newpath WEB.
