Whether you’re launching a website, promoting a new range of products, or your resident wordsmith has concocted a brilliant blog post you want to show off, getting the exposure you want all starts with a cleverly constructed online marketing campaign. Don’t know where to begin? The following three tips are a sure-fire way to kick-start a successful campaign like online marketing experts.

  1. Set S.M.A.R.T goals

Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-Specific (SMART) goals are the foundation of any successful business venture, and online marketing is no exception. A SMART goal might be something like “achieving 300 Facebook page followers within the next 6 months”.

When setting goals, take note of your online metrics to date, these will help you determine what’s realistic. Unreasonable expectations of your campaign will only set you up for disappointment, disguising the achievements you are making.

  1. Know Your Audience

By knowing who it is your audience is, you will be able to target them more specifically. By doing so, you will save both time and money, achieve a higher conversion rate, and at the end of the day, greater return on investment (ROI). Segment audiences into factors such as gender, occupation, age, income, family size etc. then market towards their specific needs and wants. It’s not rocket science, but it is effective.

  1. Create Content that Matters

Now that you’ve set SMART goals and determined who your audience is, it’s time to make your audience an offer they simply can’t refuse. Content should educate your audience about your offering(s) in an engaging way, that also guides them to the next stage of the sales process. For example, you could create a competition that takes users to your website in order to enter, rewarding the winner with one of your products or services. As online marketing experts, you would then create a specific landing page for your offering, and then optimise it to increase conversions. Then link the landing page to your online media channels and voila!
