Kentico Xperience 13 offers a committed roadmap of enhancements until at least 2025 and support guaranteed until at least the end of 2026.
From July 1, 2022, Kentico allowed new and existing clients the opportunity to join the Xperience Adopters Program, which offers customers early access to the new Kentico SaaS digital experience platform – Xperience by Kentico.
For businesses on Kentico Xperience 13 there’s three key things to take away:
- The shift from Kentico Xperience Xperience by Kentico is not a complete re-platform. There will be an upgrade process to help execute this transition;
- Kentico Xperience 13 will have long-term Refreshes into 2024 and likely beyond, and even longer-term support until at least 2026. Kentico have committed to making it better for years ahead.
- An immediate upgrade is not required.
Xperience by Kentico Platform Options
There’s currently 3 options available for those looking to adopt Xperience by Kentico:
Small SaaS: Ideal for small-mid size businesses and organisations looking for 1-2 websites on a highly capable DXP. Supports up to 1,000,000 monthly page views, 1,000 pages, 1Gb media file storage, and 100Gb bandwidth.
Medium SaaS: Ideal for larger businesses and organisations. Supports up to 10 million monthly page views, 1,,000 pages, 50Gb media file storage, and 500Gb bandwidth.
Self Managed: If you prefer to manage it yourself, either in public/private cloud or on-premises you can purchase a license-only subscription (US $11,100). The license-only subscription includes:
- Xperience by Kentico license
- 1 domain
- Customer Support
A SaaS focused DXP
Xperience by Kentico is a cloud-native digital experience platform that enables marketers to easily create and deliver personalised content anywhere, enhance campaign performance, and grow the multi-experience marketing capabilities.
Kentico are leveraging 18+ years of experience in building this new platform, to deliver a fresh, fast, multi-channel solution. Xperience by Kentico is being built as a software as a service platform leveraging Microsoft Azure infrastructure, security, management and monitoring services to provide robust and reliable non-production and production environments, with best of breed email distribution, authentication and analytics services.
The new platform will offer consistent, personalised digital experiences across all marketing touchpoints. Powerful content modelling features and customizable templates will deliver structured content with high levels of efficiency.
I’ve Heard It’s a Total Re-Platform
There’s been some rumours that an upgrade from Kentico Xperience to Xperience by Kentico is not an upgrade, but in fact a complete re-platform.
In our discussions with Kentico on this very topic, we have confirmed that yes, you can upgrade. And yes, it is an upgrade.
The current version of Kentico is 13, and the next version is Xperience by Kentico. Businesses can upgrade their sites to take advantage of the new platform when the time is right for them.
The upgrade will be significant for larger sites as it includes migrating the back end of Xperience based websites, to the new platform.
Upgrade Support
Kentico has promised significant and continuing upgrade support from day one. We have witnessed this first hand, and can confirm they are delivering well and truly on this promise.
Documentation exists fdor the upgrade process and continues to be updated. An open source toolkit is also available publicly on GitHub, containing scripts to assist with migrating content and other data from Kentico 13 (MVC5 and .NET Core both supported) to Xperience by Kentico (next-gen). Kentico states this will continue to be updated with new scripts as new features are added to the new platform.
Further, Xperience by Kentico includes a legacy mode Page Builder mode, there specifically to support Widgets that have been migrated from Kentico 13.
